So I never got this, there's like VB 05, 06, and the new 08. But I've also heard of VB.net, isn't .net just the language reference that's in all of the VBs? How does this work?

The biggest difference that I know of is that VB.NET uses the same framework as the other .NET languages (J#, C#, Visual C++, ect). I'm not sure what Visual Basic depends on, but I would waste time with either. Both are highly dependent on Windows, deviate strongly from an acceptable model of computer processing, use stupid syntax, and leave the programmer highly dependent on visuals. Are you familiar with Java or C++? I personally like the former because of how cross-platform and web-friendly it is, and the latter because it's awesome .
