My math teacher gave me a calculator that when turned on has a completly black screen. 2nd down doesn't work to lighten it and when I pulled the batteries and inserted then again the problem persisted. I haven't tried pulling the button cell yet or hooking it up to my computer, but I thought that I'd ask what you guys thought. Do you think it's a hardware problem or software?

Sounds like a hardware problem to me.

It is much easier to suggest solutions when you know nothing about the problem.

So I took out the button cell and turned it on. The black was gone but I got random pixels instead. Then I took the batteries out with the button cell already out. That fixed the problem. It seems like a weird solution to me. I looked at the version of the OS in the about screen. Button path 2nd + 1.It has version 1.13. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. For some reason when you turn it off, it waits half a second before the screen clears. I wonder what it does for that half second.

It's probably calling home to the mothership.
