First, lemme list some specs:

• A black MacBook with 2GHz Intel Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo) processor and OS X version 10.5.1
• TI-Connect software version 1.7 beta (the only one that will work on an Intel Mac)
• Two calcs, an 83+ and an 84+SE

The problem(s):

Whenever I try to install Ion or MirageOS on either calc using the silver link cable that came with my 84+SE (dunno what the proper name for it is), it won't run. Ion simply shows "Done" every time I run prgmA and MirageOS acts very strangely: I can barely make out what it's trying to create, but it's showing the startup screen as in when you first install it. However, it is very screwed up and "vibrates" on the screen. After about 7 seconds the calcs crash and the RAM is cleared.

However, under Mirage, if I install Phoenix and press Enter within those first 7 seconds, Phoenix loads and plays perfectly. All other games I've tried (Falldown, Mario 1.2 and 2.0, Asteroids, Pacman99, Avalanche, Baseball, and Breakout 2.0) have failed to load in the same fashion as Phoenix.

I am so confused. I assume it is a problem with either the TI-Connect beta or the link cable, since the 84+SE has run everything I listed above before perfectly (before my precalculus teacher cleared my RAM, that is >>). Any and all suggestions and/or assistance are greatly appreciated.

Thanks! ~Tmad

EDIT: I forgot to mention that all other Flash apps that I install through TI-Connect work fine on both calcs. Even more confusing @_@

A silver link cable? The last time I checked, those only came with TI-83+SE's. When I got an 84+SE, it was packaged with a black USB cable. Either way, TI Connect for Mac OS X isn't supposed to have support for silver link cables, from what I've read. Have you tried resending MirageOS?

As for Ion, it won't run unless you have Ion-compatible games that are also on your calc.

I swear the 84+SE came new in box with a silver USB cable that has a little box in the center of it and TI-Connect successfully recognizes and sends and receives files for both calcs.

I have resent every file I've tested three times to both calcs with the same end results. And are all of the games I listed really not Ion-compatible?

Thanks. ~Tmad

Could it be the LCD driver that sometimes makes the screen look funny.

No idea what you mean by LCD driver, but only Ion and MirageOS show up strange on the screens of the calcs. Everything else on them works perfectly fine.

If you haven't already, try sending those games after installing Ion (it's installed if you have prgmA). Sorry, but the your issue with MirageOS is one of which I have not previously heard. Just make sure that you have the most recent version of MirageOS, and try deleting the application variable (archived by default, so it won't be erased with RAM clears). You can find it listed from the Memory Management menu.

Trust me, I am installing both shells before I install any games, and I am deleting all traces of both shells and the games when they don't work. I'm stumped.

However, I did get Ion to at least start up, but it's the exact same issue that I'm having with MirageOS: the screen is all messed up and "vibrates" a little. However, I can see that it is attempting to make the Ion program list, but it's like it's trying to draw it diagonally across the screen.

I managed to get a picture of what MirageOS is doing on the 83+:

Weird, huh? And I had to be quick, since the calc turns off after about 7 or 8 seconds once I start Mirage.

Oh, it's doing that? That changes everything. The answer to your question can be found here, in the FAQ. Probably.

Success! Running the LCD fix cured that problem. Thanks haveacalc.

Now the only problem is that Phoenix and the LCD fix are the only things that show up in Mirage. I've installed Asteriods, Pacman99, and Super Mario 1.2 and 2.0 to both calcs and neither one can show anything but LCD fix and Phoenix. This is what stumps me even more.

me2, tried your suggestion and it turns out I had already installed the correct version for an 84+SE.

I just got an 84+ (no SE) from my friend to work on today and it's got the exact same issue. Any suggestions?
