Okay, if you know what you want for your sgnature post it here, I think most of us have already know what our signatures would be, but it's cool to look at the funny one. . . .

Please don't use the enter key to make your post look longer.

Not to burst your movement here but Z said he would add the stuuf so we can have sigs and avatars. I know you hvaen't been here for a while but Z can take a while to add updates. I'm not putting him down, its just that he can't/woun't do it right away, but it will be done inthe near furture. One thing you need to continue participating on this site is patience; whether it is for Z's updates, or all the n00bs asking questions that have been answered. Sit tight and things will get done, eventually :img13:.

Does that mean you have no ideas?
I was looking into this sites history, am I the one who started the avatar/sig. thing in the first place?

Lol, I can't wait to have my own sigs! Wait a minute...who's saying that?
You're so right D, it does take me some time to add stuff but it gets done eventually. We still get quite many updates and more often than many other sites, so everyone should be happy regarding this point.
And yes, I've started working on this update but locally so you won't see anything till I get done. Just sit tight and goodies will come.

Oh yes, a few questions that need answers asap:
What should be avatar size? There WILL BE a fized avatar size so that people don't do bad things. Should it AIM site or 48x48 or something else? 64x64 is the maximum size I'll allow, so take your picks. Maybe if things go well, I'll implement an avatar size selector into user's profile, but we'll see.
How should "calcs i own" selection be? Should it be a bunch of checkmarks so that people can check what calcs they own or just a text field so that people can include comments as well?

Thanks.

I vote 64x64. At the MacAddict forums the largest is 80x100 and that can be small for some things. I personally won't go any smaller if I have too. About the calc field; what you said should be fine, just like the way it is at ticalc.org. It would also be nice to have a comments/bio section, but thats up to popular demand.

Technically, we have enout apace up to 160px of width, but larger size avatars will add more site load and users on slow connections will suffer. I'll just add a customizable avatar size and we'll test out which sizes work good and what should be accepted. Although AIM avatars are convenient, I'd prefer a larger size so that my avatar can have more potential for any small detail I decide to drop in.
About calc field, I know either one is fine but I really need to decide on that. Check box way is much more complicated and will require more code so that's mainly why I asked this questions. I just wanted to know what people prefer best and whether text field will be enough. If I disregard extra coding, I'd still go with text box since I always like to add comments here and there. I wouldn't mind adding some comments next to my calc list too. Though, having a text box will not let us control the format of data output and thus output may not look as organized.
I'd apreciate more feedback on this.

Your missing one little thing about avatars Z. Resolution does not necessarily matter, its the size of the data. I think a 10 to 15 KB limit should do fine. I know all about slow internet speeds since I use 56.6 at home (Hey I'm actually online at home now!).

I suggest 80x80 pix.
for the size. I can't make any smaller without drastically decressing the quality of my Invader Zim avatars

We should have a "Status"
you give a status based on the number of posts

1-10 Wormbaby
11-20 citizen
21-30 Advanced citizen
31-40 Private
41-50 Private 1st class
51-60 General
61-70 ruler
71-80 King
81-90 Tyrant :)

This is just a template, the real one should be better!

After 20, we should be able to make our own customized status, our status should be visable just above our avatar in yellow.

Yeah, I totally agree with Zootch. Status, is great, it tells you wether this person will be replying on the forum, or if he/she won't.

I'd be at least a General. . .

Calm down. postcout++; means very little here. If you want Z to do something like that, do increments of 100 or more. I don't frequently post here and I have more than 800. At another site I have over 600 and I have only been there for a few months.

Well, yes Digital, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I think you guys, you, zkostik,Barret,BullFrog, Shocktroop, and all you other admins, should decide the status of our forum users. Not necessarily all the users, just those whose post. Cause we have over 4,000 members, but I'm sure only 200 of them post in the forum.

Sorry, I am just used to a site where post count means everything!
You must break 80 posts before you are called a "newbie" no more
Please don't start using that term, I hate it...

calculatorfreakCG: Actually Barrett, zkostik, Zinearety, spiral, and myself make up the administration. (Sorry we never got back to the subject of promoting you BF). Of course "we" would make up the status, but for it to be acceptable, we would comfirm most of it with those who post. Making it user-specific posting will actually creat more code than if it is general.

Zootch: Don't worry. From my experience, the forums that are actually serous, worry less about postcount. At the other site I regularly post at, it is poscount <6 = n00b, <1001 = member, <5000 = Addicted to this place, etc.

"We are getting impatient and restless, some more than others :)"

Learn to be patient. We (us admins) learned it by teaching everyone how to transfer files to and from the calcs. If we can, you can . :img10:
