I've been reading these forums long enough to see a lot of newbie questions like how to get games on to a calculator. While these are answered in the FAQ, they get asked here quite often. We should continue to answer them, but I'd like to suggest once an answer is posted that we lock the thread. That way it'll fall to the bottom and allow more interesting discussion to remain at the top of the pages.

Also, it'd be useful (although maybe a little difficult to implement) to have a way to tell if new posts have been made in a thread since the last time I viewed it.

I use the "view active topics' link on the main forum page. Or, if I know I'm going to be gone for a while, I'll log out, and then view any forum that has a star next to it.

But that would be useful, but I steer clear of any help forums if they have 5+ posts anyway.

Heh, never thought of that, but wouldn't that be the job of the delete button?
Better yet, why not have a sticky/pinning ability to have FAQS and such on the forums so people will (eventually) stop asking stupid questions and reading the darn stickies instead?

I'd like to think that the delete button is only to remove truly abusive posts. Having the ability to make a thread sticky would be nice, but somehow I think we'll still have people who post before reading. After all, there is a link to a FAQ and people are encouraged to read it before posting. It doesn't do much good.

Well, sticky function would have to be coded in and we would probably have too many anyway that would eventually just look like TI Faq which most don't read and ask questions instead. Since you're an admin redux, you can close topics at will. There will be a link on your admin menu when you're viewing a list of topic to close/open them.
