Oops, you might have been the person Z talked about the last post forum...I think you had a problem...

Heres a portion from Z on a forum about 3-4 weeks ago, begin quote:

"Okay, more files added (some replaced...).

Also, a person who submitted a file named "OBPRGMFILES.zip" please email it instead as it seems that our upload script doesn't like it (well, actually it fails to upload probably because of that apostrophe in the file path). I've seen you tried to upload it a few times, I apologize for the inconvenience but you may want to email it to me or Barrett instead. Thanks.

I think there may be a problem with Perl's file path parser function since it doesn't parse file path with special chars correctly. And MS just had to allow those in its Win XP file paths... Please only user letters/numbers and undescores in file/folder names whe uploading to ensure your upload works. Sorry about all this trouble."

End Quote

Were there spaces in the file names? Because that screws up the uploader...

actually, i've added all of the queued programs last week (in fact, it seems that it was the same day as your submission but it got there a bit late). hearing that you've upped it more than one week ago i'd guess it didn't make it into the queue. i've just looked at the file queue right now and only saw one files by you (ebonic.zip). tomorrow is my file adding day, so if you want you can resubmit the rest. make sure none of the filenames have spaces or special chars. oh, answering that question about how often i add files, usually every week or so. rarely, its two but that's only when i'm too busy. if however it seems long enough for you, please let me know on the forum and i'll add it asap (i don't check the file queue every day, but i do visit the forums every day).
sorry for the trouble btw.

Hey PhilEd, lol on that ebonic screenshot :lol_a:
you may want to practice using VTI and TI-Shot for animated gif capture.

Btw, I took care of all upload. There were only 4 up to this date and everything is up now. If it takes a while for your file to get posted, please don't hesitate to contact me.

VTI does not support the USB cable. instead this is what you should do.

1) Use TI-Connect to make a backup of the files on your calc.
2) Download and put a copy of the TI-89's (that's what you have right?) OS in the directory where VTI is located.
3) Start VTI and then drag-n-drop the group file from TI-Connect onto VTI.

Now you just made it so VTI is an identical copy of your calc.

btw PhilEd, please give files fair ratings. From your ratings its evident that you haven't even tried the files you've rated. It definitely doesn't sound like you've already tried the 3 new files and gave them a 6 each and of course you gave your own file a 10. This is just something to think about. And no, I'm not going to do anything with ratings, they're for reference only anyway.

Who is it that for every new file, except for those last ones, gave every new file an '8'? I've always noticed that.

i don't say that all of these files are good or bad, i just don't think that they all only deserve 6/10. i gave the mathpro file an 8 or 9 (i have tried that files it deserves better than 6), dunno about others. PhilEd, you're more than welcome to rate files as you like, just try to be more fair on your ratings. if you look thru the file ratings, you'll see that most files only have 6 or 7 and even the games which are nearly perfect still have low ratings. this is because people don't really care. personally, i value reviews over ratings as long as they give nice description and comparisons to other titles. btw PhilEd, your mario level set is actually pretty good.

actually, don't all files start at 5, so if it has an 8, it should be because the mystery person is giving it a 10, and 7.5 rounds up to 8?

they don't start at anything... with 1 '8' vote that file would have an '8' rating... and then with a 10 vote it would go up to 9... then with a 2 vote it would go down to 6 or 7 (6.6667)(i forget how it rounds) then if it got a 10 it would go up to 7 or 8 (7.5)

all new files start with no rating. ratings are rounded like this 6.44 would actually round to a 6.4 and 6.45 would round to a 6.5. the script only keeps the tenth place when it rounds. so basically yes, what B said is correct. this is for precision and error margin reduction. however, what you actually see on the file page is an int round. the script rounds down these floats to a closest whole number.

btw PhilEd, email me for a copy of the OS (write to my CG account: zkostik@calcgames.org).

actually Philly, you should have made a new topic for that one. i'll answer this here but in fiture when you're asking for soemthing unrelated to the current topic it is best to post a new one.

to make a screen shot you need to do the following:
right click -> take screenshot -> lcd only black/white (you can choose truecolors if you want to preseve the grayscale)
other option is to save it to a file, which is a bitmap though. taking screen caps to a clipboard allows you to use your favorite gfx editor to save the file into any format you like, best choice if of course gif.

Mirage does not run on VTI because of its poor flash emulation. you can however get an unofficial VTI 3.0 which has good flash support but only emulates 83+/SE. always be open to some experimenting business, that's how people learn.

BTW, your files were upload successfully and I'll add them in tomorrow.

Oh well...that's why ratings are public and are not admin controlled unlike reviews. It's up to you to rate files however you like. Though, random ratings kill the value of rating system...

Could you try to see if there is files called rol.zip, rol2.zip and rol3.zip in your upload3ed files list? I just want to see if they haven't screwed up.

well, according to this, we have ol.zip, ol2.zip, and ol3.zip

edit: sorry, they are not in the upload folder... try again, be sure there are no weird characters in the filenames (like spaces or weird R's)

i'll try B, this is the last week of semster so i'm rather busy these days. i found a little time to check the site but i might have some time tomorrow, i'll see if i can go thru our file queue.

EDIT: wow, lots of uploads here. hopefully i'll get to go thru the files and add them this evening. i still need to finish my english portfolio and papers, so i'll probably only add the older ones today and leave the rest for weekend. sorry that it takes so long but next week is the final exam week in college.

Most of our uploads have been taken care of as you have probably noticed. You can go ahead and check out some cool games such as updated Phoenix or TIHex if you're a 89 user. There are also some nice games for the 83+ crowd. Okay, I'm going to work now and hopefully will get to add the rest of the files this evening (say B, why don't you add the rest?). Alright, later then.

Note to uploaders: Please only submit screens in GIF or JPG format. We can not post screens in BMP format and have to convert them thus increasing the time it takes to work thru uploads. Also, its a good practice to include readme files along with your archive. I've noticed that quite a bit of the new uploads have no readme files in them. Oh, you may want to include screens with all of your files to boost your downloads.

Yes they have and will be added soon. Sorry for the wait but we've been rather busy lately. When I was adding files this week I didn't have enough time to get to the end of queue. Your files are in the beginning now and will be added today or tomorrow.

Hey Kevin, for some reason your files don't make it to our server. Last time I was adding files I've seen like 4 or 5 failed attempts from you. I'm not sure what exactly is causing the problem but you can always just email me the files or try using our beta-test uploader. I'll send you the link via PM.
