Hey guys, thanks for all who participate in our United Devices folding project. Everyone did a great job thus far and hopefully we'll continue doing the same and will eventually get more members to join our team.
Below are the current stats:

Members (Rank) 7 (# 5,587)
Current Members 6
Retired Members 1
Total CPU Time(y:d:h:m:s) (Rank) 1:009:11:27:26 (# 14,715)
Points Generated (Rank) 214,897 (# 11,245)
Results Returned (Rank) 650 (# 15,808)

Yay! We've achieved a whole YEAR of total computing time. The team rank also moved (total points/cpu time) considerably. These numbers used to be at 18-19K just a few months ago and look at our rank now.

For those who don't know what UD is and what the deal about distrobuted computing is, please check out our Research page (please also visit the UD website link from our research page for more info). There's a link on the menu bar to the left. Please join in and put your spare cpu cycles to good use. That way your screensaver can actually make a difference that may affect whole humanity!

Again, thanks to everyone who participates in this project!

I tried getting it to work before but it was giving me problems... Not like I'd run it very often, as that'd effectively turn this computer into a spaceheater.

Lol Andy! Well, this is voluntary and no one is required to participate. If you want it do it and if you don't then don't. No hard feelings if you don't want to join in, everyone have their reasons.

Well, if I would run it on this computer it'd have to have a setting where it won't use more than say 35% of the processor, other wise that would make it kick up to 1.6GHz from 800MHz, which would kill the battery and make this a spaceheater (as I state previously).

Plus the first time I tried to get it to work it didn't want to, probably the gay firewall here.

Well, it only runs as a screensaver and why are you running from a batter anyway? Well, do as you feel best for your setup. As with firewall, did you allow an exception for UD client?

Edit
I'm not really sure how well mine is doing. I'm guessing that I'm doing it right though. :)

I've gotten at least 2 hours in today alone, and 1 hour yesterday since I started.

Well, this IS a laptop so I don't want it running when it's on battery. :) As for the firewall, I don't have any control over it.. Stupid univ... I *could* request ports open but I don't see that happening... And that still doesn't solve the spaceheater and battery issues. :) Now, if there's a linux version (that doesn't need X) I might run it on the router at home...

My UD client just kinda stopped working today, any idea why that is Z?

EDIT: Aughhhh! I restarted it and nwo it gives me an error when I try to restart. I'll reeboot and see if that helps :img23: .

What sort of error? Do you have it set to upload found data at certain time (not set to anytime)?

Btw guys, I'm just curious but what computer scores do you have (what does your UD client report to you)? I usually have something around 207 or so...

Unless there's a Linux client that is in the Gentoo portage tree, I'll stick with SETI@home on my router. ;)

Well, the thing with SETI@Home is that it really brings us nothing useful. While UD researches are actually useful to the humanity NOW. I mean, all that extraterrestrial life searches is good but it would not help our ongoing problems in anyway. Just thought I'd point this out. But hey, whatever makes you happy Andy.

I'm only really running it because a bunch of us in the computer science club are going to form a team, I think... Oh well.

It works after a reboot, and I'm still only half way done with my first packet (really slow comp).

OK, so I just finished my first project (got to 100% while I was at school) and now it has apparently started a new project, but it has the exact same name as the last and on my member profile, it still says I haven't finished anything yet. Is it just me, or is this wierd?

It updates stats every 24 hours. And the project is most likely very similar to the one you were working on.
