Nikky and Z are going to start working on a new part of the site. (no they don't know about this until they read this).

File Complaint forms on each page... With a dropdown menu with several reasons for a file removal:

Innapropriate (spelling?)
Useless
Crashes
Other files exactly like this but work better
Other Reason (when selected a JS script will show another box where 100 characters can be entered (not the one that allows line breaks)).

This will insert a complaint in the database where administrators can review complaints.

Good idea, nikky and Z!

I would help, but I don't have any time... sorry.

Umm, wasn't this basically what I suggested, in a different format?

crashing doesn't seem like a good reason to remove files. few authors will upload a file that always crashes. plus the cause of the crash could be something else. I think that crashing should be reported to the author so they can fix it. sounds like a good idea though.

[15:07:35] <Nikky_S> Oh well
[15:07:42] <Nikky_S> I was planning to do something like that anyway.
[15:08:00] <Nikky_S> We could work the review staff thing in too.
[15:08:37] <Nikky_S> And have like a premade email thing
[15:08:43] <Nikky_S> for each area of concern
[15:08:51] <Nikky_S> and they could click to send to the author
[15:08:56] <Nikky_S> with room for additional comments
[15:09:12] <Alex10819> hmmm
[15:09:27] <Nikky_S> And maybe 8-10 people who review
[15:09:43] <Nikky_S> and a file is suspended until a vote
[15:09:47] <Nikky_S> which lasts 5 days
[15:09:54] <Nikky_S> and simple majority would win

Sounds like a good idea but we need to devise a good criteria for that would need to be met for a file to be removed. I'll start thinking up some ideas for the timebeing.

Most of the point of this is that it notifies the staff, and then the staff reviews the file, and if it is a useless/bad file they can remove it.

All this does is draws attention to specific files. There are tons of files being submitted so the staff doesn't always look at them in depth (if at all). Now if a user says "hey, look at this file! it has THIS wrong with it!" a staff member will look more in depth at it and if the file sucks it will be removed.

That's why just crashing won't necessarily get a file removed but if a staff member says that it crashes too easily and in the wrong places (when you run it, for example), and on more than enough versions of the AMS/OS it will be removed.

Yeah, I see why you mention crashing now. Perhaps we should also have ability to send automated email to the file owner and give them heads up or something. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, but it's more fair this way. At least they'll know that their file is being put for removal for this and that, and if crashing is the case, give them some time to fix the problem. We do however need to bring more attention to our archive as its getting increasingly dirty.

That is quite a good idea, I'm glad Nikky and Z are so willing to work on it by themselves :) . Also, I made a suggestion or two in that other forum that should be born in mind while doing this.

There, the backend is done, all CM's, SCM's, and Administrators have access to it, as well as the review staff (congratulations alex10819, TI Freak, and lunchbox!).

For the staff, look in your admin control panel for a link, for alex and TI-Freak, I'll send you a pm with the link for now, until I figure something else out.

Don't think so, because it says "hell" in coffmanrunner's previous post.

Edit: There you go.

Yes, it does filter "hell," but when replying to a topic the filter doesn't run, if that makes any sense.

I believe what Nikky means is that the filter only activates when you view the page, not when you post a topic, therefore if you edit a post, it will seem exactly as you typed it originally.
