Edit
I was wondering how one's file would make it on the Top Rated file list (i.e. the minimum requirements), and the popular files list?

I am just wondering, because I can't remember if there was ever a discussion about them...

I believe the rating system is based on the average of votes for over 10 votes. As far as most popular... no idea. Most downloads per day perhaps?

Edit
I think I actually know this!

To be in the top rated files, a file must have a high rating and at least five votes. As for popular, it's probably determined by highest downloads per day.

Jc is probably correct on that, and I'm not very inclined to confirm what he said. :)

"not very inclined" meaning "too lazy to look at the source code", I presume ? :D

It's just based on DL/Day numbers. So basically files that have been here for less time and have more per-day downloads get higher score and go on the list. Have a look at the file stats page and sort it by DL/Day to see how your stuff is doing. While the list does look a bit biased towards you know which game, some new games such as Space Station Pheta did also made it there so I guess it's quite possible if the files is good. :)

Oh yeah, I did have to look at the source to confirm on that. Shame on me :)

dl/dy... I guess I will have to start updating my stuff more frequently... :D

And as to the ratings, one of my progs have 4 votes and sitting at 9.7... That isn't fair... lol

Edit:

I can't complain too loudly, I will soon be taking position in #22 slot, as I gain on the makers of ZDOOM... :)
