I like Opera myself, but firefox is a capable browser, and still much more powerful than Internet Explorer.

Yeah, I use Opera, too. I find it's actually faster to load web pages, not just faster to load the program itself, though that could just be coincidence. Also, I really love how it starts downloading before you even click "Open" or "Save" on the dialog box, meaning the file is usually about half done downloading by the time the dialog box even comes up on my computer (this one is uber-slow). And tabs RULE.

</plug> :D

But nonetheless, Firefox is sometimes more useful, as some sites only work in it or IE, like Windows Mail Live, which just looks like regular hotmail in Opera.

Obviously, I'm a writing mood today. Maybe I should start that script...

Because...

1) IE doesn't render right.
2) IE is full of security holes.
3) IE doesn't render right.
4) IE is full of security holes.
5) IE is full of security holes.
6) Tabbed browsing is bliss.
7) IE is full of security holes.

That about sums it up.

Well...IE works fine for me although I have a whole host of browsers loaded. I personally hate the tabbed browsing thing so that is not a big feat for me. As with render problems, not sure what you're talking about guys, it works better than other browsers because its way too forgiving for coding crap. As with security holes, FF has plenty of its own, and in fact all software does so its just a matter of finding. Not to mention that most virus/spyware infections are user's fault. Not to sound like I'm an IE fanboy or anything but I do use it most of the time and it works just fine and not I never catch any spyware of viruses with it... :)

And ONLY crappily coded pages render properly in it. If you actually follow the spec and make valid pages, it chokes on them more often than not. As a semi-web developer, that is VERY annoying.

You know, everytime I click a link, it opens in a new window. I want a tab! Someone tell me how to fix it. Oh, and only z's avatar is showing up.

Lol Andy, I do have to agree with you on that though. IE is weird with some CSS coding too. As with speed Nintendork and Hydralisk, it depends on your compy for the most part. IE loads faster when you open it up since it's integrated into the o/s but FF renders pages much faster. As with you Ryan, not sure why you like Opera so much but it's your opinion. My view is a browser is a browser as long as it works. Only Opera I liked was the one for cell phone, one for pc was much slower and had more issues than FF, though customization is nice. Oh well...we have browser wars again like back in the old days :).

@z: I'm not actually that territorial, it was really just a joke. I still do like Opera better, but not that much... and the main reason I like it so much is that it's faster than IE7b on this computer, which is relatively slow. Also, Opera had tabs before IE did (they only introduced them with 7), so I got used to using it. But, like I said, it's not as huge as a preference as I made it out to be earlier. I also enjoy the customization capabilities. Kinda like Window Blinds, but less buggy. Does anybody here use Window Blinds and find it annoyingly slow?

I'm in a wrting mood again today.

Window Blinds

It looks cool, but that's pretty much it. I still uses the same process (probably event teh same dll)that Windows does to change your appearance (the one where the screen turns black and white and says "Please Wait"), so it's incredibly slow. In fact, due to the complexity of many of the styles, it's slower than Windows itself. Therefore, by making windows "better" (i.e. by making it look better, which I couldn't care for myself), you're in fact making it even worse. What an oxymoronic program...

I encourage you to try it for yourself, though, even if it only stays on your computer for a day, to see what exactly I dislike about it.

I tried IE7 and really hated it. Way slower than 6 and has all that extra crap, they tried to give it features of other browsers I guess. Main thing I like about IE6 is that its windows load super fast or maybe I'm just not used to waiting for stuff to open up. Besides, IE7 is in beta and still has bugs and whatnot so we'll see how it does later down the road.
I used Windows Blinds on my lappy (will post a screeny soon) and have it convert window skinds, menus and folder picture buttons. Works extremely well and I run the computer in power saving mode all the time. Though, I didn't like it on my desktop since it slowed it down too much (and my desktop is fairly high end), but maybe it was just older version of WB. Anyway, I'll post a screen of what the thing looks on my lappy soon.

It was fine for me years ago on a 500 MHz Celeron...

And no, it uses vastly different means to achieve the same end as Windows Theming does. (At least on pre-XP versions, though probably on XP as well.)

Yeah, WAY smaller. The ".exe" for Opera is about 70 KB, whereas the Firefox ".exe" is over 7 MB. (Obviously there are more external dll's for Opera.)

Edit: actually, I checked again. Opera has LESS dll's than Firefox. However (I think) it uses two quite large ".le" files, totalling about 10 MB. No idea what the hell a ".le" extension is, though...

trust me, its not a bug. it just means that you need to work harder. if they can storm you... it obviously means that you were an unprepared newb.

anyways, i gave you the 2.1 version, so you should dl the 2.21. its better, esp in the battle seciton and the AI is better.

rite now im just optimizing the AI rite now. i dont beleive there are any bugs.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEthey dont make fun or opera because it was majorly crapy and wasnt even a close running mate to the others. Back in the day opera had those darn advertisements... and now that is doesnt, they quallity is lagging. My dad tells me stories about when he and his colleages were the only ones on the internet when it came out, b/c they were the program testers, and how much faster it was back then. but then the public got the internet, and the users went from 10,000 to over 10 million world wide. he also gave me strickt talkings on y opera and IE suck...um, err... arent good. Basically, there are alot of unseen things you dont know about happening in IE that they dont tell you about.

Oooh, a new Firefox. *downloads*

Wait... where? I can't find it on the Mozilla page. (Or is this one of those impossible-to-find betas?)

Edit 2: Yes it is an impossible-to-find beta. It's also called <confused praise and amazement at the cool name> Minefield? </erm. stuff>. Can't see any differences yet, though...

Yeah, but am now happy to announce that I have 5 browsers on this computer. I am currently using Minefield (can be downloaded here), which is essentially Firefox 3, just under a different name. It's actually cool, because I just found a new feature as I am typing this: spell check. As I write this, the little red lines appear (quite often, I might add...). That's a neat feature (this is kind of an internal monologue, here)

3fg: So far, yes I have found Opera to be better, but if features like spell check keep appearing, I might have to differ! :>

I also have Firefox 1.5 (does not update with 3.0/Minefield), Opera, IE, and a browser called Maxthon, which I have yet to use... (also has a GoToMyPC-like product that's 100% free that I will also try).

Well, apparently 12:30 am is my most talkative hour.
