Attention 83 Series Calc Owners!
(That means 83, 83+ (SE), 84+ (SE) for you n00bs)
I'm thinking about a text game contest... I enjoy playing them and they can show a lot of creativity. It won't start right away, but you might want to start working on a really cool one.
If you don't know how, download and look at a Hick game or BobGame or Runaway or one of those.
Give feedback on this idea here. Note that I do not intend to make this a CalcGames.org project, but a private one. Although if they let me, that would rock... for now, just submit a fast Mario level!
Have fun!

Sounds fun, I'll be submitting a mercenary-type game. The demo should be out real soon, so look for it ;).

I assume menus and any other interactive text game...
XCAPE II will be all text and menus but they're all fully interactive

BASIC flames are for n00bs, you don't want to be a n00b do you? | My other calc is a Porsche.

This will be a Calc Haven contest. So not much of it will occur here.

I have a better idea for this site...

I believe that I will be a judge in the contest.

To get the full info on the contest, goto Calc Haven like Jc said. All entries will go in our archive there also, but the winner gets a mystery prize. (I might have an idea for it)

freddie... how do you know YOU won't win????

Here are the rules, copied and pasted from Calc Haven:

Q: What kind of game do I make?
A: It has to be a text game- a choose-your-own-adventure style game that should not use graphics for the main game. You have a player make choices that determine a path that you take.

Q: Who will judge?
A: I will, and Archon might, if he doesn't want to enter. (I haven't okayed this one with him yet.)

Q: What platforms and languages can I make the games in?
A: Any 83 series calc (83, 83+, 84+) in BASIC, ASM, or flash (if you are using BasicBuilder), or if you can make a PC game, that would be fine too.

Q: How do I submit a game?
A: Email it to me. thejccorp-contest@yahoo.com. Put it in a .zip file with a short readme, then send me an email with that as an attachment.

Q: How many different games can I submit?
A: One per person.

Q: What do I win?
A: I'm not really sure right now, but it will include Elite Member status here at Calc Haven, a nice news article, and some "mystery prizes that have to be good! The publicity helps, too.

Q: When is the deadline?
A: There is none. As soon as we reach 10 submissions, they will be judged.

Q: When does this start?
A: Now.

Q: What will it be judged on?
A: It will be judged on the following:
Creativity
Challenge
Fun
Presentation
Humor (If applicable, don't worry if it is too serious.)

Q: I made a game a long time ago. Can I submit it to here now?
A: Sure. I don't see why not.

Tell me if I forgot anything.

If you break any rules, you will be disqualified from winning.
