Tank Invasion! is my next computer game. It will feature many levels of one-player action, two-player versus mode, high score table, and all the other normal goodies, plus a possible hidden mode.

I have yet to make a plot, although I can describe the gameplay. It plays similar to a Mega Man game, although you always face to the right, which really adds a challenge, considering that some levels will have you moving backwards through the levels. You fire rockets to destroy enemy tanks and try to jump over pits to reach the end. I picked up some really neat midi files from games such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, Earthbound, Mega Man 2, Mega Man X5, and eventually more.

The two-player mode is a definite right now. There will be two modes: a vs. mode where you see who can destroy the other guy's tank in a chosen map (the sprites are smaller because split-screen would be really hard) and a race mode (may be omitted) where there is a psydo-split screen. The tanks race through an obstacle course, and the tank in the lead controls the scrolling screen. If the winning player can either get to the end or "push" the opposition off of the screen, they will win.

Also, I figured out how to create a custom icon and titlebar for the game (finally!) so it looks a little nicer.

I can post screenies if people are in any way interested in seeing them. I've decided also to take my time on this project and make it really good.

Also, if you want to contribute graphics or ideas, post them or email em to me, I'd love that.

Thats awesome! Keep at it! Some of the thing, like not moving with moving pads, actually make the game more challenging. Also, I really like the collision detection system you used! Nice work!

Thanks. Actually, the hit-detection is built into the software I used.

Here's a screenie of the boss:
That's George over there. He frantically laughs and presses that device. You have to keep shooting him.

Okay, I'm running into a few technical problems. I attempted to make a boss level where after you kill the boss you have to finish the level in 2:00, but the level ran out of memory and I had to split it up into 2 levels. I will also be making the 2-Player Race a separate game. However, lives and score will definitely be added to all levels, as well as multiplayer powerups.

I also removed the backwards level, because it was generally stupid.

Also, depending on how many lives you lost, your ending will be slightly different. Either way, you will get to see the person that has been inside the tank for so long.

Yes. Yes I do.

The addition of lives may be a really bad idea: the game is wicked hard. Or maybe I'll just give you 10 lives...

Now to make an ending!

No, lives are a bad idea, unless you supply some cheat codes for infinite lives :) .

Okay, I'm switching things up again. There will be 2 one player modes: Score Attack and Story Mode. In Story Mode, you will play through each level and each boss to see how quickly you can finish the game. The faster you finish, the better the ending. Kinda like some other game...

The score attack is different. You can choose any non-boss level other than the last one. Then, you try to get a high score. Score is calculated through # of tanks destroyed, time, health, etc. Each level will have 3 best times. I may have to separate these into two seperate programs- in that case, I'll make a "title screen" program as well.

And here's another screenie!

This is after you kill the final boss. You are then taken to another timed level. The boss is a giant tank.

Yep! You'll probably love this one if you liked BobGame5.

Edit: Argh, memory problems! Must be the huge screen size... anyways, I have to cut out the non-story 1-player mode...

The 2-player mode, however, gets a very nice addition: ammo! Now you can't be cheap and fire so many shots... I also added little bars to show health and ammo. Now I just have to add them to all of the multiplayer levels. You gain ammo every 3 seconds with a max of 10. Now the game is more strategic and less, "FIRE FIRE FIRE!!!!"

Edit 2: I finished it! The ammo system was a breeze to put in. I'll write up a nice little readme and upload it ASAP!
