hey can anyone here make a logo suitable for Raz.com?

it's going to be a programming site with resources and news for programmers... (preview it at http://raz.calcgames.org/ )

any logo making would be greatly appreciated and you would instantly become part of the raz team.

the same size as the calcgames.org one, but aligned to the left of the page... and of course it can be bigger or smaller... i'm thinking the same size and shape as the ticalc.org logo... no specifics.

oh, btw, the site's colors are blue black and white (feel free to add any new colors if you think it'll look cool, cus 3 isn't enough anyway)

Well, I'll give it a try. I've never done logos before but now isn't a bad time to start learning. Believe it or not last night I was considering making a calcgames.org logo...it will be at least a week before I can turn over anything.

You realize that there is no resgistering right? I had to try to sign up while looking at the format of the site.

EDIT: I have a possible idea involving a cool fractal I generated about 8 months ago. If I get something to work out today and tomorrow I'll e-mail it to you on Saturday.

Why is it that I'm one of the few who uses capitalization and punctuation? I'm not an English person (Calculus and Physics rock!), in fact I hate the language that comes out of my mouth and what gets typed up.

EDIT2: One last thing. What does "Raz" stand for or how did you come up with the idea. Any explination for the reason ans purpose to the site will help me create something more appropriate. Thanks again.

B: 6 to 9 hours. I don't keep track but when I start out trying to come up with something I just go with the flow. There is nothing I do before I start drafting the idea, it just comes to me as I progress. If it looks good I keep it and if it doesn't I move on. The whole process is experimenting with vauge notions so it can take some time. Also I don't just site down and do everything at once, the time was spanned across two days. The second one your talking about is that the black background one or the one that looks like the sword?

Z: After I finish may first pass at our forums I'll e-mail you the copies.

Okay, thats the sword one. I did not intentionaly make it look like that but it works fine. Part of the pentagone I used . Do I have to register, or what exactly do I do to "instantly become part of the raz team"? I know you wanted the logo on the left side of the screen, do you want me to adjust it like that?

There was going to be a bug report by me about your site and the menus on the left, but I see that it just got fixed.

PS - The site colors are a good choice with one exception. The white as the background for the tex of the news items is not very aesthectic; aka its kind of an eye sore because it is too bright try a 90% gray (luminosity) with about a 15% tint of blue (blue hue w/ 15% saturation).

PSS - Sorry, I never mentioned that I think that the site is a great idea and the format looks cool.

btw, feel free to make any changes to the design... i think it would be better on the left side - but the design itself is more important, so as long as you can make it look good with a left edge, then that'd be awesome.

well spiral, the project just begun and much work is being done on the side code and design itself so there's not content so far. there will soon be content and other stuff, so just check in periodically.

Edit: btw B, i suggest that you temporarily make all dead links to just lead to the home page. this will be much better then seeing a "404" while you guys work on the code.

In your description of the site you say it is a programming site. What platforms and languages will you guys be supporting? will it be just for the z80 and 68k platforms or will the site include JAVA, C++, etc?

I was just about to delete the comment because I say the newest update. Am I an Admin yet?

Edit: One more thing about the site, in the news the left corner is rounded off. Why is it not also rounded off on the right? Also trock20033 says to e-mail himself or you if someone wants to help but there is no link to the "Members List" so people can get your guys' e-mail addresses. BTW The rapid developement of the site shows consistant hard work. Great Job and keep it up.

well, i guess i can be considered as a perl programmer...
btw, when you say you need a CGI programmer, you should specify programming language. either PHP, Perl and many others are CGI scripting languages. or is that just a general CGI question board about other languages not listed?

btw, ns work on the site. i also suggest you make dead links either go to the home page or some dummy under construction page.

Great forums BTW. Its pretty cool that they are free (judging from how little I looked around). Hey Z, I'm kind of suprised that you registered after I did at the forums. Thats kind of funny since you knew about them before I did.

Hey Barrett. A copy of the site's logo oriented on the left hand side of the screen should be in your mail box now. Also I have some colors for you (you were really close) the hex values are C3C3E5, 9191CA, and 6060BF. These colors are suggestions for the backgrounds of the news items if you forgot. Here are the colors...
C3C3E5

9191CA

6060BF

Barret, can you delete my account on Raz w/ the user name "Michael." I want consistancy so I made a new one w/ the user name Michael O'Brien. Thanks.

One more thing. Why am I a "Newbie" in the forums and not an "Administrator"?

I registered as "Billy" to check it out. I like the colors, and it has a nice layout.
Reminds me a lot of the forums on xbox-scene (except the colors of course)

Right now Trock is working on a custom skin to match the site. I have to go my an English class in a couple of minutes, so when I get home I am going to start on some buttons for the new skin. If you want to check it out (its still a work-in-progress) Go to "My COntrols" at the top of the screen and then "Skin and Languages" at the bottom right, Choose "Raz" and then click preview to see it. BTW Welcome.

Barrett, I checked the Admin options and the ability for "null voting" has not been diabled. you might want to verify this

Lol Michael, I've been kinda busy that day they put the forums up so I turned out to be late. Oh well, doesn't seem like a big problem to me. Well, site development is going along nicely which is always a good thing.

Edit: Btw, maybe we should put out a news article about Raz or is it a bit early?

Hey Barret. With in the next few days or over the week end I'll e-mail everything I have completed. Technically most the gfx work is complete but I still need icons for a few buttons and I need to convert about 8 more.
