Ah, what an interesting, yet tough subject...so, anyone know of any cool ancestors? I'm doing a big old genealogy project for English, and my dad has a big old poster of everyone from my dad's mom's side with a LOT of names, just no dates. I'm related to 6 people from the Mayflower. Here are a few names:

Myles Standish (Mayflower)
John Alden (Mayflower)
Francis Cooke (Mayflower)
Sarah Warren
Mary Warren (not quite sure, I'm going by memory)
Elizabeth Warren
Barnabas Cooke (I think the last name's right, nice first name, wouldn't really want to name my kid that, though...)

Myles Standish's kid married John Alden's kid, so that's how they got related. I looked up all the details at familysearch.org (good free site), and I've got all this crap copied and pasted into Word that I have yet to find out what the real dates are (there were at least 2 different entries for a few of them). Getting stuff from my dad's dad's side or my mom's side should be interesting...

Anyone else?

I'm related to John Dunham, from my mom's side. He came over on the 3rd boat and he was a church deacon or something.

Nice roots man! You got nice roots! Myles Standish, the Warrens? Wow!!! I've read about those people alot. Myles Standish signed the Mayflower compact! Congrats!

The thing about the Mayflower is that...well...with so many generations that have gone past, anyone who hasn't immigrated from another counrty in the past 100 years is almost garenteed to have a relitive from the mayflower, althought it's pretty cool...

Yep! I think it's cool that our relatives "made history". Or, at least Shock's did!

Your great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandpa had relations with prmative indians. Nice! (Myles Standish)

I also found out something else that's rather disturbing. The same person who made the poster (my dad's mom's cousin or something) also found out that we're 1st cousins (about 9-10 times removed) of the Bush family. :eek_a: Both related to Francis Cooke I think. Kinda freaky, eh?

Your roots are the best I've heard of in a loooooong time. The Bush family isn't that bad, I mean 2 of them became presidents 1 govenor of Florida. Not everyone can become that. :) !

Hey, now I've got some more info on the Cookes, thanks! lol I might just use a couple of those pictures. Bush is a bit big, though, especially since we're generally not really related...

No, it was easy. Go to Google, do an image search, and hit insert link a couple of times. I just did George Bush cause I was trying to do all the relatives.

BTW, allyn is right, I can't edit my posts after someone has replied to them.

really? Can't even edit y our own, I wasn't aware of that. Oh well, the post looks much neater now, even though it was a pain in the @&* to reformat it because when you edit html posts it doesn't preserve page breaks.
