Yep, another nerd is happy! A few months ago Barrett purchased a new laptop. As for myself, I've been talking a while with nothing to show. Tomorrow I will officially be labled a switcher! Sorry PC users, but I'm getting a PowerBook. Joy to the world...

I'm for PC's myself too. But the fact that you're getting something like that is pretty cool. Enjoy man.

At least Mac's are probably better for video/graphic editing. Gratz D.

I'm a PC fan and am currently building my new supercomputer. I'm happy for you D and want to enforce my views to others, afterall that's why people have their own views :). That seems like a nice laptop, though the price tag is a bit ugly. You can get a much better pentium laptop for the same money...oh geez...here I go again, sorry. :img26:
Anyway, I hope you like your new toy!

Z, after messing with this for a few days (using it right now), the price tag is far from ugly or extreme. For a stock setup, this is close to just about anything you'll need, except specialized software. I'll post some pics for you guys hopfully before I leave before Hawaii on Thursday morning. Right now I'm doing software updates and finishing up learning the environment. The OS takes a little bit to get used to but so far it has been pretty easy. I really should change accounts right now so I'm not logged in as an admin since I haven't secured the computer against viri and enabled the firewall yet. Anyway, these computers run really nice especially since there is maybe a 1% chance of getting a virus that is for the OS X platform. Once I have my .Mac account set up I'll shoot some videos of the OS in action and post links here in the forum.

You got that $2500 model right? Even if its the other one, the price tag could have been a bit lower...but oh well. That's true about viruses, but there aren't that many software programs for mac either. Well, if you like it that's great and I'm happy for you :). The only thing I like about mac are their lcd displays which are truely awesome...that's about it though. OS X is okay but has some incompatibilities with certain hardware.
Well anyway, send us some pics!

The soonest I can get some pics up will be mid-morning/early afternoon. There was a tiny mixup when they registered my .mac (read dot mac) software and they have a power outage at the store I got it from. Z, tell me exactly what quality/quntaty issues you have with the computer given the fact that you say it is overpriced, oh, and how much you think it is over priced. Total price ~2200 w/ education discount (what I paid).

There is also plenty of software for Macs, though a large amount of it is closer to professional level. Also, since the quallity is so high, few think that there needs to be improvements so you'll find less software that do the exact similar things (duplicates).
