I know you weren't trying to bash it, sorry if it sounded like I was implying that. I just wanted to get my point across that controller isn't the most important part of a system. So yeah, since many seem not to like xbox controller many 3rd party companies came up with their own versions to imporove that downside of the console. BTW, Unreal Tournament is still one of teh best games ever. I play it from time to time. Also, the new UT2K4 is also a very good choice. I know everyone was pissed by how much 2K3 sucked, so 2K4 is a huge improvement and its actually pretty darn close to the original UT. Sega DC does have some of its own goods and bads. In fact, many people use modded DC nowdays as a really cheap DIVX player (it's actually doing a pretty good job on that).

Speaking of XBoxes, my brother's has been crapping out when it comes to playinf DVDs. He bought a Halo Edition one so his old one is on loan to me. Halo is probably the only game I will play on XBox so once I get a TV in my room We can link the systems and go head to head.

That reminds me of the time that on the last week before 'winter' break , yes my school actually calls it that.

We setup to xboxes with halo and played 4v4 using the schools boxlights (computer projecters) projectiing on a big screen. What could be better than halo on a really, really, big screen? Anyways, I was reminded of that.

Oh, man. I so wish I was there when you guys did that. Just about every school is politically correct now.

Personally, i think the xbox should be called the halobox, since halo is the only game worth playing on the thing. I don't have one, i like my gameboy more. Call me stupid, but im bad at games. Gameboy games are easier for me. 3 dimensions just confuse me. :eek_a:

lol, i think Halo is basically the only good game for Xbox, too. I love my GBA SP almost as much as my other consoles. i only have nintendo consoles (N64 and Gamecube) cause when i got mine, a loooong time ago, the other onwes were a little too pricy for me. i also have gotten used to the feel of the gamecube controller, so i like it more than the Xbox or PS2. But that's just me. ad that's my two cents :)

i still don't manage to survive in real life... I walk into stuff all the time. I wish i lived in 2D.

And Lunchbox, i totally agree with you. GCN controllers are the best. I hate the others. Just personal opinion. But the GBA SP is EXTREMELY hurtful to my hands. But it is cheaper to buy the grips for it.

BTW, im a classic gamer. You'll see me on my SNES the most.

Speaking of classic gaming, there were some ridiculously awesome games there. I so wish I would have brought my SEGA Genesis here but it wouldn't work on NTSC tv andway. In my opinion Genesis and NES were ones of the greatest consoles of all time. I personally didn't really like SNES and only enjoyed a few games. I still play on emulator quite frequently btw (not for the past year though coz i've been having lots of work and school...)

my favorite game is for the Genesis. But you wouldn't recognize it's name anyways. it is called Sparkster or something. You were a possum and could fly around with a jetpack. I haven't played that in a while...

Gunstar Heroes for Genesis. Best old-school game ever.

Yeah, Gunstar Heroes was good. I was also a big sonic series fan. My game list would probably be very long but hey, that speaks well of a console! Btw, this topic needs to close soon.

I'm back after a hiatus at camp.

Getting back on schedule without explanation, I am a huge classic gamer. Though I like all classic systems(Besides CD-i and 3Do), I favor the systems older than me. I have 3 atari 2600's (should sell one...).

Some responses lately have been so long I've just skimmed through them. I'm just lazy, dudes.

GUNSTAR HEROES ROCKS EVEN THOUGH I NEVER PLAYED IT!!!!!

GOOD NIGHT CLEVELAND!!!

whoa, how can you say that SNES didn't have great games? oh man! it had classics plus you could actually save in super mario bros.3 My favourite game for Genesis was Golden Axe. but you can't forget Zero Wing with phrases like "All your base are belong to us!" and "Somebody set us up the bomb!" and the music was incredable. oh man i feel like playing it right now.

Only good game on 3DO was Road Rash, or well, at least it was my favorite. I didn't really like the SNES Mario as I ultimately prefer the original NES version. Golden Axe is definitely a fine choice especially in 2p mode, and also don't forget all the greatness of Battle Toads in 2p mode and of course our old classic TMNT for NES and Genesis. SNES TMNT had good gfx but was far too easy and short. Of course all the RPG fans here have to bow to the greatness of Chrono Trigger on SNES which is still in my opinion one of the best RPG's ever made. And remember all that bomberman and battle tank and contra battles on NES, wow! Oh, I can go on and on guys.

BTW chase, you should know that you can't post a local screenshot in the web as it will not work unless you're running a server on your cumputer and that screenshot resides in a server accessible folder.

Yes, thats a rather hard problem to find the cartridge. But if you have the ROMS...emulators work rather nicely. :-)

Hey guys, how about we have a favorite console poll? I think that'd be pretty cool to see what people vote for.

How about 2 polls. Favroite new-school console (PS2, GC, xBox).
and favorite old school console. (SNES, NES, Genesis, atari, etc.)

Good idea though.

yes, those are good ideas for polls.

btw, allyn, i don't like to use ROMs, i prefer the cartridge versions anyway. I have a lot of dumb luck, so i usually end up with pretty rare cartridges and i get them at good prices (KirbySS, Earthbound, gunstar heroes, etc) but i did have to use one to play super metroid.

I like ROMS because they work on computers. And we all know what that means. Especially on 'eduactional' ones.

yeah, that reminds me of the time when I saw someone playing mario in the computer lab, that certainly made me jump. Fortunately, there was a sub, and that particular sub happened to be an uncaring college student.

I have about 890 ROMs on my old computer (850 are atari 2600 games).

I like ROMs because I can save my game in contra in the middle of a level or play games never before released in the US, like the prequels to Advance wars: Famicom(NES) wars and Super Famicom(SNES) wars. The opening sequence with Orange star and blue moon bringing out bigger and bigger tanks is worth downloading it alone. Only problem is it's in japanese. If you played advance wars, though, you should be able to understand it.

ROMs are good, but using a keyboard instead of controller makes games like Mario 64 a pain in the butt.

Wow. This was longwinded...

Guys, NO ROM discussions please. ROMs are considered an illegal copy of software and you're not "supposed" to use them even if you own a cart. Either way, please don't discuss ROMs any further on our forum.
