I'm curious as to what peoples' avatars really are. I know some of them (the animated ralph, the One Ring, I'm trying to remember more), but a few of them I have no idea of what they are supposed to be.

Mine is a MTG card.

Mine is a concept art that I searched for a while to find. It's based on fractuals, but isn't a true one.

But before I've had the TCU logo (horned frogs) and Phobos (the moon).

Anyone can have it, but not everyone knows how. Look in your profile, try somethings; maybe you'll get it to work. :)
PS: This post has a hint.

Crap...I'm a friggin admin and I can't even figure it out. The only thing I can possibly figure is that it might be based on the number of posts you have...

Ok now I am thinking you have to put it in the field where the URL goes to your avatar, but I am not sure how :-/

One tyhings for sure..if you don't have a animated avatar you can always edit it in :-)

They really should have some test of profile so you can see what your avatar will really look like so people don't have to write pointless messeges like this to see wat it looks like.

We may eventually do that, I've already thought of implementing that but just never really got around to. The avatar text is not based on posts and anyone can generally have it, but there's a trick to display it. As of now, we'd generally tell regulars and admins how to put avatar text. Though, we may eventually change that and make it so that anyone can easily add avatar text. Though, we may have to think about that. If you want to learn how to display avatar text you can PM me.

Well, who are you referring to when you say "your." Are you asking about someone else's status, or did you mean "you're" and are referencing yourself?

In either case, there is really no definable definition.

About your avatar, you can change the dimensions in your profile, but you may need to resize your image manually, I'm not sure if the poll script expands it, probably now.

I really think we should get just one folder on avatars/pictures/whatever. That way it will be nice and simple (just a suggestion)

Well, if someone was to compile a nice set of avatars we could consider hosting them and allow people to pick an avatar in a similar fashion as our emoticon picker...

Actually I was thinking of more of a combination of avatar relating subjects in the forums, but I like that idea too.

Well, if you guys post some links or suggest good pics, I may be able to find some time to scale them down and put on CG server. Tho, I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to have generic avatars since everyone wants a different one. And if people start using same avatars for a "just to have one" purpose then forums can become quite confusing for those who tend to identify other folks by their avatars (like me).

Yeah, I must admit that I use avatars to see who posted something as well. Like when JC had that clone, I got irritated and confused rather fast.

Maybe you could have a checkbox for a "standard" avatar, a picture that reads "I'm too lazy to find, resize, and upload my avatar." :-)

I like that girl. She's pretty. :drool_a: Course, I couldn't tell her that, cuz she's pointing a gun at my head...

That's it. My avatar is starting to creep me out. Time for a change.

Here we go!

Well, the new pic is from Space Marine Griffon series by Masamune Shirow. Btw, M. Shirow is like anime god! If you've never heard of him then I don't know what to say. He's the guy behind some of the best anime such as GITS, Black Magic, many manga series, lots of amazing CGs and other cool anime stuff. I have a few other avatars from his great artworks, feel free to use these avatars for the time being if you like them, don't use the same one I'm using right now tho (pic number 3).

All very cool. 'Course, I'm not an anime freak, in fact, I don't much care for the TV shows or the manga. But I do like the unique art style, and the great expressions and stuff.

I was just scrolling through this post, and I saw my name! My name is Neil too :yum_a:

BTW, my avatar is the flag of the country where i was born, Trinidad. There are plenty of Trinidad flags on the web, but i made this in paint b/c i can create precisely the size i want, so no resizing issues :sunglasses2:
