Total Posts: 4 | I'm entering a small tournament on the 18th of this month... I play as Dr. Mario. I dominated last year. However, this year, there are other serious competitors (I had only one tournament level-opponent last year.) How do you guys think I'll fair? |

Edit | Well, it depends on your strategies. I would definitely watch out for people playing as Marth... he tends to whip the Dr. with his long-ranged sword moves. If you do fight a sword-user, use the cape attack when you can to reverse their direction and counter the attack with one of his quicker moves. The Dr. is one of the more vertasile characters out there, and so he'd probably be a good choice for a tourney. Use long ranged attacks when you can, and when it looks as if the opponent will get close, use a smash attack with decent timing.
Also, watch out for Fox players. If you stay patient, they'll usually fall into any trap you set.
SSBM is one of the best games in existence, so have fun! I can beat almost anyone at my school at it... so maybe that has some bragging rights... |

I agree with Jc, Dr. is very good for tournies, I'd also watch out for older Link as he had quite a bit of fast long range swoard moves that can turn him around right after you "cape" someone

Total Posts: 2007 | I was best as fox, and I was pretty good too. Fox is great to play with and bad to play against because he is the single quickest character in the game and has a wide variety of powerful moves in every direction that can strike you so fast you won't know what happened. So i'd say if you go up against fox, be on the defense and just counter every move he does, because that will frustrate the heck out of most fox users and then when they are frustrated and don't think straight, you go in for the kill. |

If they seem to wait for me to attack, I try to lure them in by picking up a poison mushroom (no better item for luring your opponent into a false sense of security! Headless hammer will bring them even closer to you, but then it's not a FALSE sense of secutrity...) |

Total Posts: 24 | I like to play as Kirby. It's fun to attack your opponents with their own attacks! But I wouldn't reccomend him for a tourny. You really got to get used to several character's B-moves to use Kirby's copy power :lol_a:. |

Edit | Am I the only person who CAN'T play as Kirby? He's too light and fast, and isn't good at dodging, since he seems to kill himself a lot... Jiggly is better for that. |

Total Posts: 29 | I can play as kirby, it really makes people mad when I take their power then throw it back at them (literally) :P plus as light as he is it makes it easy to dodge. last week I won a little tourney with Mr. Game&Watch pretty easily
