Where do you work. I personally work as a Porter (a test-driver/car-mover) at a Porsche dealership. Because I'm still in school, I'm full-time during summer and only part-during school-year.

How about you? :)

I work where all the old computers come off campus. Fun most of the time, because there isn't much hard work involved. We watch movies a lot when there's nothing to do.

I do not know how I'd make it without my job. I tried to find a job during the summers of my 9th, 10th, and 11th grade years, but was not successfull. Nowadays you have to either be willing to work full-time or on some other weird part-time schedule. :img15:

What is so sweet is my parents set me up my own checking account, which includes a VISA debit card............which means I finaly, finally purchase things online! :D

I'm a soccer referee, so I go all over the place to work. But it pays pretty dang well. The only job i'd have to say i'd like better would be test driver for the ferrari/maserati dealership down the street :) .

Dude, If you have a vallid driver's license and a good record, its not hard to get a job at one of these dealerships. You simply must take the initiative to ask. I was hired immediately, and I make upwards of $1500 a month (after taxes).

But, as you already stated, you appearently are doing well with your current job.

If I lived on your street, I (being the car-nut that I am) would have already filled out an application for the ferrari dealership...........now THAT, would be an awesome job! 8-)

I work at Albertson's. I get 5.50 an hour. That's after a raise. It sucks. I could start charging people for the help I give during 6th and 7th periods in computer science, the dozen people I've helped have the best programs. And everyone in my CS class has better projects than the other CS classes cause they've all asked me for help with threads, backbuffering, key and mouse input. Can you believe none of them realized that to get rid of the delay between keypresses none of them could think to do increments in keypressed direction until keyreleased?

In Michigan, minimum wage is like $5.15 an hour. Before 1998, it was something like $4.78 an hour, which is less than half of what I make an hour at my current job........don't know how long I'll be paid at my current rate for, though...

minimum wage here in AK is $7.15. this summer I worked as mantanance for the local fair asocation. that was prity cool, I got to work mostly outside but during the fair basicly all we did was empty trash. now I got a student job as a "lab tech" for the writing lab. it sucks I just sit in an office and waite for someone to have a problem(which has happened once). I would much rather screw up signes, shovle gravil, put up tents and move things around. several summers I worked as a soccer referee, all I have to say is that I am not referee matereal and I hated it.
[edit] fixed minimum wage after I found this

In the summer I work at Boy Scout camp (as I'm sure some of you know, since I'm always gone then), but during the school year I tutor my roommate in math for $26 an hour. It's a good deal.

Here a better breakdown of how it works here in Michigan:

1) You must be 14 or older to work at a [non-small business] business. Period.

2) 14 & 15 year olds may work, but are not garunteed (by MIchigan law) to necessarily receive minimum wage. Their employer has the right to pay them slightly less than minimum wage (there really not that big of a difference, though).

3) 16 year old and older MUST be paid at least minimum wage, which is currently $5.15 an hour. However, if their employer wishes, he may claim any tips receive as part of their minimum wage. In fact, many times, a person will be paid as little as $2.80 an hour, providing that he makes up the difference in the tips he/she recieves while on the job. If the employee does not make up the difference in the tips, the employer is required to do so. :)
