every time i try to send this piano program to my friends, it gives me an error message that says "err:version". it also happens with some of the other games. could anyone tell me what would make the ti-83+ do this and how i could possibly fix it?

Is it an App, BASIC prog, or assembly prog? and do they have the same kind of calc [83+/SE] that you do?

You could attempt transferring the games from your computer to their calculator instead. That usually worked for me.

that would work, but they usually don't trust me to take their calc. and since they don't have their own cables, the only source for games is from my calc.

Pity. I got quite a collection of ROMs taking calcs home - it was my fee, as it were.

I mean, oops. Did I say that out loud?

Um...make sure you have the same OS...
1.16 is the current, and usually if the person you transfer games to has an older OS...probably 1.14-

OS doesn't matter, Allyn. All the kids i give games to [which is quite a few] have OS v1.14 and i never get error screens. BTW PhilEd, there is an appendix of error screens in the 83+ manual. try looking at those.

OS DOES matter, besides, I always upgrade their OS's when I transfer their games...but I usually don't tell 'em, they get cranky when you say 'I'm upgrading your OS, it takes about 20 minutes, and I hope you have new batteries.' :-)

ERR: Version: YOu have attempted to recieve an incompatible variable version from another calculator...
