OK so I just got my calculator. It is a TI-83 Plus. I got this TI connectivity Kit. I want to download games so I went to the FAQ page and did that. Well when I got to the part when it is supose to be a file, the game I downloaded onto my computer is not a file. When I click on it, it opens Windows Media Player. So why doesn't it show up as a file? If anyone can help me please! Does anyone know what I did wrong? I tried it with a program to and it showed up as a thing that opened Windows Media Player. Please Help!

Don't try to open the .8xp file. Drag it to the ti-device explorer, which is found in ti-connect.

The game that I want is showing up like a music download. When I click on it, it opens windows media player. It's not showing up as a file. Do I need something on my computer to make it show up as a file? Then I heard that you need something to open those files. Please help I need some games before school starts!

So what happens....
  • You click to download the file from the internet to your computer, and windows media player starts.... or
  • When you open the .zip Windows media player starts or...When you open the .8xp file WMP starts or...
  • None of the above

try right clicking and doing save as.
save to desktop.
it'll pop up on your desktop.
then run the zip file, or if it's a .8xp file, skip to the next step.
click and drag .8xp file to ti-device explore

If TI Connect was installed, I would expect it to be showing up as a calculator-type file anyway, but yeah, there's no need to double click the file. Right-click-send to or drag and drop to DeviceExplorer.

To be more specific if (since?) you've never done it before:

Right click on the file you want to send (.8xp)
Go to "Send to" | "TI Device" | "RAM" or "Archive"

You could also go into the folder options/file types and edit the .8xp type so it won't open WMP.

It's not showing up as a folder though. And when I try to send it or drag it is says "C:/Windows/desktop/hoboQu~1.Zip is incompatible with connected device" I tried the "save as" way and the downloading way. It's not showing up as a file. When I went to the FAQ part to learn to download, the files had a zipper on it. I don't even have a file. Do I need some program to make it show up as a file? And if I do does anyone know where to get it. Thank you for everyone trying to help me.

ah, the files you are downloading are compressed (zipped). If you use Windows XP, you can double click on them, and that opens the .zip file, and you can open the contents of it.

If you're using an older of windows, you'll need a unzipper like Winzip, get it free at
