Hrm... Did I just do it? yes, yes I did... I named a post on the Calculator Discussion channel "DCS" in other words "Kerm Martian"... Now for alot of people "Kerm Martian" means jack s***, but for a goot few that name means a LOT... He's associated with the "Doors CS" OS for 8x calcs, the only BASIC OS to go ASM, he's also associated with something a little less acclaimed... He is renowned with a very large "fued" with our own Andy Janata, this is innocent enough, but it has put a nice little wall between people who talk to Andy ot post here and people who avidly support DCS, as I know I'm onw of the few people who support DSC that still talks here regularly, and as far as I know I'm one of the very few people to use the words "Kerm Martian" and "DCS" since the "petition" and we all know how I feel about that one (see my post hays post), but as of about 20 mins ago I was yelled at on the #calcgames channel (not singled out, but as part of 2-3 people but still) by our oun Andy, and I feel that's just not right... I hope this dosen't turn out to be like the great ASM-BASIC divide that is still there (smaller but still there) and soon we'll have a full blown (if not already) Kerm Supporters-Kerm Haters divide going, and if you didn't get it before, I can be immature sometimes but people this is just wrong... What is it that makes us a a communtiy so immature, we don't have to share our hatred with all others as vividly as some people do! I don't go out and say "ASM is the worst thing ever! I hate it! I want all ASM users to burn in hell!!!!", no. I go and say "I won't use ASM..." no matter how much people keep bugging me, so If people keep bugging those that hate (or just dislike) "DCS" then they shouldn't resopnd with caps and cursing that would make a sailor blush! If you get offended don't go out and yell at them... calmly tell them and they'll get the point... we need to grow up... quickly... or you'll lose people, fast... and that's not going to end well.

i agree whole heartedly.

If Kerm did something in the past, then that was the past. If we dwell in the past, we cannot go forward with our lives.

If, for saying this, i get banned from #calcgames (which i'm now rather close to, thanks to this), then thats just tough...

If, for saying this, i get banned from these forums, well, what can i do?

I believe that all TI programmers are mature... with a few exceptions. I am regarded as one of the most mature teenagers in my town, and i feel that this entire thing has been blown out of proportion.

since i know this thread will be locked, if not deleted, i will say it now... WE MUST OVERCOME OUR IMMMATURITY! if you have a problem with someone, keep it to yourself... dont threaten to ban people from IRC channels that they love just because they like someone you dont...

Maturity and friendship are two things that this community has... lets not lose them over such a stupid little feud...

I've said it once before, and I'll say it again...

Petty differences are small in comparison to the size of the community. Whatever has happened between Andy and Kerm has happened, and there's not a thing that can be done about it. However, something can be done after the fact: live and let go.

I am starting to get real sick and tired of seeing petty differences get blown out of proportion. Sure, I have my fair share of arguments with other community members, and I make fun of others, but it's all in good fun, as I'm sure all the usuals here have figured out by now.

I myself have been programming for quite some time, as I'm sure Kerm and Andy both have. Esteemed individuals within the community, such as they, should not have spats that turn into full-blown grudges, resulting in a lot of bull****.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy arguing as much as the next guy, and I'm rather immature. But you don't see me duking it out in IRC with others, or here for that matter (except for those bloody n00bs).

That's my ten cents...

As always I tend to agree with DSP on these things (huh?)

...I was thinking IF I got banned from here then there'd be some major problems... and not from me...

Convenient how my internet died right when this was getting out of hand... (No, seriously, it did.)

ANYWAY. You deserved that kickban, end of story. "Jokes" like that are not welcome in our channel.

Also, for the record, while the channel *IS* named #calcgames and some of the bots *ARE* run by CG staff, realize that the channel is *NOT* a direct extension of the site. Half the bots are run by non-staff, and a LOT of the regulars to the channel never visit the site. This is to say do not take channel happenings to have much to do with the site.

I have standards I expect from people on IRC, such as not being a prick and not making crude jokes. The same standards which apply to these forums. You wouldn't make that "joke" on the forum, now, would you? I didn't think so.

@andy: could we talk about this on a channel where neither of us can kick/ban the other?

If you want to *talk* that's fine. Give me an IP to a vent server and we can talk to your heart's content. xD

Anyway, if you'd like to talk in a civilized manner, I'd be all for it.

By all means yes. I'm barely going to make it this semester, if I even do make it. Perhaps y'all don't realize how stressful my life is right now...

Yeah, if DSP can keep his cool... why can't we all? I'm willing to bet your professor isn't sitting you in a desert

Edit
You got a point dsp.

And I sort of understand Andy's point on stressfull, though I have 3 jobs, plus I try to have fun with my friends on here, my forum, Omnimaga, Cemetech, or whereever. It doesn't matter.

If things are really bad, find a punching bag (the really big ones you hang from a cieling) and kill the damn thing. That has always worked for me.

Wow...Andy, I thought we agreed to just deal with our differences before? What these people don't know is that there never *was* any problem between Cemetech and Calcgames, you just plain seem to hate me. The first inkling I got of this when you flamed me, my projects, ptograms, etc. in sum as being useless, pointless, stupid, et al. Now what have I done to deserve this? Apparently when I was a n00b programmer I released several programs (out of 270 other USEFU: programs and games) that made him unhappy. Fine, OK, I have no problem with that, everyone had a newbie stage. The whole deal with being a newb is that you're NOT an expert! Now I am more advanced and make more advanced and well-thought-out projects, I don't think it's fair to treat me as some kind of Hays Games just because you seem to have some inexplicable personal vendetta against me. Hopefully you'll go back to respecting our tenuous truce.
