I've heard about this numerous times, but I'm confused. How do you play sound out of the I/O port? I thought it has something to with sine waves, but I don't know what to do with them.

Edit: Is there a program for this?

Well, since calc port is not designed for sound its a bit difficult and restrictive as far a possible output sound quality but generally yes, there are some programs that do that. You'll need to get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio adapter in order to hear something. Some games even have very basic sound effects. Have a look on ticalc.org in [your calc model]->asm->sound section.

Sound waves are basically just vibrations in air that I believe travel in a path similar to that of a sine wave.

Or you could have a look at the latest news article! That's not very basic, now, is it? :)
